Matthew 6:29 “But I tell you that even Solomon, the great and rich king, was not dressed as beautifully as one of these flowers.”
Matthew 6:30 “If God makes what grows in the field so beautiful, what do you think He will do for you? It's just grass-one day it's alive, and the next day someone throws it into a fire. But God cares enough to make it beautiful. Surely He will do much more for you...”
Have you ever noticed the intricate details that can be found in many things you pass by everyday without a glance? The delicately painted inside of a tulip. The beautifully designed seashell. The brilliance of a broken piece of quartz. The carefully planned, symmetrical design of a butterfly wing. The mesmerizing swirl of a snail shell. The tiny feathers of a hummingbird.
Why was there so much attention given to things that commonly go unnoticed? That end up broken to pieces on the sea shore or scattered in the yard? I think this is God's quiet reminder that He is paying attention to detail in our world and in our lives.
He cares about the intricate parts of your life. Your days. Your minute by minute. Your second by second.
He doesn't want to have you come to Him for only the big things and take care of the small things on your own. He cares if your daughter has someone to sit by at lunch. If your big toe is causing you pain. If your feelings get hurt. If your were forgotten by a friend. Anything and everything.
He even keeps up with the number of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7)! That is a constantly changing number. Keeping up with that requires a lot of attention to detail!
He doesn't just look at you through a broad lens, but through a microscope. He is a caring and involved God.
The next time you notice something beautifully hidden in something commonly missed, let that be a reminder that God is with your always. Even the tiniest parts of your life.
